Air Traffic Control

Air Traffic Controllers keep aircraft safe in the skies and on the ground. They make sure aircraft are a safe distance apart.

Three types of Air Traffic Controllers look after aircraft:

  • In a specific airspace
  • On approach to an airfield
  • On an airfield or airport.

Matt Clark

Matt works in Air Traffic Control. He finds English, maths and physics really useful. His role is to keep aircraft and passengers safe on the ground (apron), in the region of the airport and in airspace. He does this by radio communication with Air Crew on routes into and out of the airport. Physics is useful so he can understand how an aircraft operates.
